Let longing be your language. Not a flaw, but a feeling that guides.
Longing gets a bad name sometimes.
It’s mistaken for neediness, for ache, for the emptiness that signals something broken.
But I’ve come to believe longing isn’t a sign of lack—
It’s a soul-language, whispering direction.
It stirs in quiet moments.
It catches in the throat when you hear a certain song.
It flares like a flicker behind the ribs when you see a glimpse of the life you haven’t yet lived.
And no—it’s not a cruel reminder of what you don’t have.
It’s a gentle pointing.
A compass—not a script.
“The ache isn’t asking to be erased. It’s asking to be trusted.”
Longing says:
“This way.”
Not “you’re failing.”
Not “you’re behind.”
Just: “Come closer to what is calling.”

“The ache isn’t asking to be erased. It’s asking to be trusted.”
Being Human
The ache isn’t asking to be solved.
It’s asking to be listened to.
To be sat with—not silenced.
Because sometimes, what we long for
is not even a destination—
it’s a way of being.
And if we let it guide us,
if we listen instead of judge,
longing can lead us home.
Not back to where we were,
but forward to where we’re becoming.
Reflection Prompts
• What have you been quietly longing for lately?
• What direction is your longing pointing to—not in plans, but in feeling?
• Can you let longing be a companion instead of a critic?
“Longing doesn’t mean you’re lost — it means you’re listening.”
