This Is Where It Begins
There is a moment in healing
when you stop trying to return
to the version of yourself
that made everyone else comfortable.
This is where the revolution begins.
Not out there —
but in your nervous system.
In the way you breathe instead of bracing.
In the way you say no without explaining.
In the way you stop rescuing, apologising, disappearing.
Healing is not always a soft glow.
Sometimes, it is fire.
I used to think healing meant becoming easy to love.
I used to think that if I could just
shed enough
fix enough
comply enough
I’d be worthy.
But I’ve come to see:
healing is not the path back to palatability.
It is the sacred defiance of erasure.

“I used to think that if I could just
shed enough
fix enough
comply enough
I’d be worthy.”
I call it a healing rebellion.
Not loud. Not cruel.
But quietly devastating to every system
that taught me to earn my worth.
It’s in the way I let myself rest.
It’s in the friendships I release.
It’s in the rage I honour.
It’s in the truth I let live on my tongue.
If you are no longer becoming who they wanted…
If you are interrupting patterns with breath,
if you are choosing your body over their expectations,
if you are feeling more than fixing —
You are already a revolutionary.
Reflection Prompt:
What rule are you breaking, simply by healing in your own way?
What revolution lives quietly in your body today?
